Releasing The Salmon

For the 2nd term of Eli's grade 3 class they learned all about the cycle of a salmon. Eli LOVED this subject. Their classroom had a tank all set up and were given salmon eggs at the beginning of the term. Throughout the term the children watched them grow until today when they released those salmon into the wild.

Bell Irving Hatchery was where the children released the salmon this morning. A fish hatchery not far from the school and located in Kanaka Creek Regional Park. Of course Eli was really excited to release the salmon into the creek.

The kids were given a tour of the hatchery, learned more about the cycle of the salmon and where their new journey would take them. It was really cool!
