BC Day

We decided that for our month off this summer we're going to be tourists in our own backyard.  This basically encompasses the whole lower mainland.  So throughout the month of August many blog entries will be our tourist view of our own backyard!

First is celebrating BC Day in Fort Langley at the BC Farm Museum and the Langley Centennial Museum.
So our Celebrations consisted of the following:

August 1 – BC Day Celebrations
* The Fraser Valley “G” Scale Friends will set up tracks and run model trains, some steam and some electric;
* Miniature horses will be on display, as well as Aldor Acres rabbits for the kids to see;
* Demonstrations of wool carding, spinning, knitting, and weaving on the Museum loom;
* Rope making and knot tying demonstrations;
* Take your photo in our “old farm buggy”;
* 12 Noon to 2PM, free coffee and Timbits from Tim Horton’s Cruiser;
* Some of our more interesting Stationary Engines will be operating and our volunteers will tell you all about them;
* The Dempster Windmill will be pumping water;
* We will sell Orange flavoured drinks and coffee for the old-fashioned price of 25 Cents per cup;
* The popular “Scavenger Hunt” will be available for families to enjoy.

The kids even got to take in a game of mini golf!

It was a fun day.  We learned lots and even got to vote for our favourite artwork, we were able to learn what kind of artwork we each like (very different from one another) and I was able to teach the kids that there is no right or wrong answer.  What might be a favourite to one won't necessarily be a favourite to another.  The kids wondered what dad's favourite would have been had he been with us.  I wonder?
